Artificial eye
Jack is Caucasian, although he has a very pale complexion. Jack is six feet and one inch tall, and weighs one hundred and seventy two pounds. He has long gray hair that he keeps, for the most part, angled up but some of it hangs down, specifically on his left side. Jack is in very good shape thanks to his time in the US army and his time in the Beowulves and continues to follow the workout he had while in the army daily. Jack has very few scars even with his past involving combat, this was because of what his job actually was in the military. But his most notable scar is on his face, along his left eye from the forehead down to about the tip of his nose, this would cost him his left eye as well.
Which in turn brings up his next most note-able feature, Jack has an artificial eye in place of the one he lost, this eye is not designed to look like a normal human's eye and as such it sticks out, which causes him to wear shooting sunglasses quite often when he wants to blend in or at least avoid drawing attention.
Generally when he's on a mission he will wear black combat fatigues, black fingerless gloves, black combat boots, a black mask to cover most of his face, and a headband with a metal plate over his forehead, this is to protect his eyes and face after he'd lost his left eye before. He doesn't wear much protection other then the headband, only an olive drab vest level IIIA ballistic vest, this vest allows him to store six extra magazines for his pistol. He also wears a belt, which holds four extra pistol magazine pouches, and a small pack on the rear of the belt, at the small of his back, he keeps various items in the pack, but no weapons as it isn't large enough.
Jack also has a combat knife on his belt as well, at his left hip. His pistol is stored in the holster on his right thigh while one a mission, and concealed on his belt at his right hip while he's at his store or just doing normal every day things. When he's not on a mission Jack will generally wear regular clothes to avoid sticking out. He'll also also wear hats sometimes, though rarely due to his hair. He has an analog watch on his left wrist.
Powers
Type of Power: Enhanced sight. Manifestation: The eye he had gotten installed as a replacement to his left eye is a cybernetic eye, which of course has several advantages over a normal eye. The eye allows him to magnify an image to various levels, but of course as the level goes up it's practical ability drops, "record" faces, fingerprints, and other details into it's memory, it gives him night vision, it has a compass, keeps track of the date and time, it "translates" lip reading and transmits this data directly to his brain, which allows him to "hear" what he sees someone say. and allows him to "scan" the recordable details. Which is all very helpful for him, but it has some issues. Specifically that the technology is rather new and rare, and as such it still has glitches from time to time, such as some features not working properly, or even not activating in some cases.
It's also very expensive so Jack needs to try to keep it undamaged because of how much it would cost to get the thing repaired. The glitches are much better then they used to be, as this particular model was designed for active and former military personnel use only it has a much more strict design process, and has some features that are missing from the commercial model. Another issue with the eye is that sometimes the image will superimpose it's image onto his other eye, which prevents him from using it normally. Source: Cybernetic left eye.
Type of Power: Superconductivity. Manifestation: Jack's body can in essence become superconductive, which allows him to "absorb" ambient currents from his environment. He also has trained himself to have the ability to manipulate, control, and sense sources of electricity, through this he can administer the power as a range of attacks with a variety of uses; he can charge devices with electricity, and alternatively drain the energy from them into himself, magnetize and demagnetize metals. And more importantly, he can use the energy in attacks, though sadly because of the environmental nature of his ability he must "charge" himself to gain enough power for the level of attack he wants. A 17mA (Milliamp, one thousandth of an amp. So it's 0.017 amps.) for a man, or 11mA for a woman, charge to a person's torso will cause temporary paralysis, and this takes about 0.9 seconds (Trust me, that's a long time compared to reality. <_<) to get this amount of energy.
Jack can also fire more powerful "bursts" of energy from his hands for uses like electrifying objects, or for lethal doses of electricity, specifically starting at 75mA for 0.5 seconds on a man and 50mA for 0.2 seconds on a woman, once again, this is to the torso. It takes him 4.6 seconds to absorb this amount of energy, provided there is an average amount of energy in the area. This attack has a range of about 45 meters. At which point the energy has dropped off to the point that it isn't strong enough to be lethal. He can also use attacks in the 300 kV (Kilovolts, 1,000 volts.) range which cause rapid immobilization, acting exactly the same as a taser weapon since it's the same amount of volts. Though because of the lower energy, this has a much lower range of 10 meters.
Jack can also, given enough time or in an area that is saturated with energy, absorb enough energy that releases an attack on the level of an Arc Flash, which would vaporize anything within it's range, being 20 meters from the point of impact, with the energy being able to travel up to about 70 meters, however this takes him at least 15.3 seconds to absorb in a saturated area and even longer outside of them. Aside from the attack on the level of the Arc Flash Jack can also uses the attacks in his hand without "launching" them at the enemy, which would be used for hand to hand combat reasons. Thanks in part to the heat the attacks act as blades. Sadly this also drains him of stamina faster, as using them for this is a constant drain.
His Kenificus technology had allowed him a faster absorption time as well as causing less of a stamina drain, but he had been required to leave it behind when he had retired. All of his attacks are comparatively draining of his stamina, and of course the most powerful attacks drain the most, with his attacks of 300 kV or less being the least draining and as such his most common attacks, but they of course have the lowest range and power. Personal
Personality: All in all, Jack is rather cheerful and outgoing, he is almost always smiling wether or not he's on a job. He tries to find the humor in everything, more so when the source material is not funny in nature, such as death. Due to this he is constantly joking about this kind of thing, and seems to have a sarcastic remark, even when it is insensitive, for a lot of situations. However, he doesn't allow this to carry over to in a battle, unless he is trying to mock his enemy. He feels that while you should take humor out of the bad things of life, it's a bad idea to do so in a serious fight, since you want as few distractions as possible. In general he tries to find humor at someone else's expense instead of his or anyone he cares about, but this is not a rule. He just makes sure not to seem insensitive to the people he cares for.
When he's not being funny Jack comes off as a bit of an airhead, which he does on purpose to get people to lower their guard around him. This allows him to remain close to listen in on a conversation without raising to much suspicion. He gained this skill from his time working with the CIA while in the Army, they had given his unit some training in blending in, and this was one of those skills. In general he is not a mean person, he doesn't like the idea of revenge since it tends to be sloppy, but he's willing to make one exception, which was his entire reason for joining the Orochi in the first place.
He doesn't really have an issue with killing, but he does try to avoid it as much as he can since these days he's mostly fighting against his former Beowulf allies. He does not worry about killing anyone that he actually considers to be an enemy, he also dislikes completing jobs that would get other Beowulves killed or wounded and as such tries to avoid them, and in a few cases sabotage them. When he needs to draw his weapon and shoot someone, he makes a habit of using his time in the Beowulves rather then the army, shoot to stop the threat, not to kill. When he has been the cause of a Beowulf being harmed, he conceals this and puts it to the back of his mind, he has plans to pay for his crimes as soon as he has completed his objective. He is very deceptive and understands what's going on better then he makes it seem, he'll even act clumsy to get people to think that he can't fight well among other things.
He dislikes traitors, though he knows this is a double standard regardless of his reasons. Jack sees what he's doing as something that he truly needs to do, and as such ignores any double standards or issues that would come up because of it. However he is not stupid, covering your tracks was another thing he was taught during his time working with the CIA. He won't let anything keep him from his goal, but knows to take it slow so as to not reveal himself to early. But because of his act, Jack is not at a high level within the Orochi, most of his bosses see him as a clumsy oaf that somehow manages to complete the tasks he's been given. Though, several of the people he has worked with are almost afraid of him, to them he seems like he could snap at any moment and they've seen his fighting ability. Plus his time working with the CIA is pretty well known with the people he's worked with, and because of this and his specialty in terms of jobs, intel and stealth, he is known by the call sign "Spook".
History: Jack was born in New York city, in the Manhattan borough and as such grew up in the city, his father was an officer in the NYPD, and his mother was a Sergeant in the Air Force, so he was often left with his aunt and grandparents when his parents were working, but both had spent as much time with him as they could when they were at home, his mother was a human but Jack and his father were both Candeoan, both having control of electricity, although this didn't reveal itself for Jack until he was five years old, but as soon as his parents had found out that he was a Candeoan his father had started training him to use his powers effectively, both of his parents had taught him to to shoot, so he was a decent shot as well. But overall he had a normal childhood, in large part thanks to his father's training. But he had average grades, and took martial arts as he grew up.
Starting at the age of sixteen he had decided that he wanted to follow the footsteps of both of his parents, by enlisting in the army and then coming back to join the NYPD. So when he was seventeen he had gotten his parent's permission and enlisted himself, basic training hadn't been to hard for him, though it wasn't easy either but he did about as well as the rest of his group, only excelling in the shooting and hand to hand training thanks to being taught both forms of combat in his past. He hadn't stood out at all among his fellow recruits, and had joined the infantry as a basic infantryman. He ended up doing a tour of duty in his second year in the army, being sent for a small conflict in Africa, and he'd gotten his first taste of combat here. At the time he couldn't stand it, but after being there for a while it became as normal to him as breathing.
His tour of duty ended when the US force had crippled the enemy force, which was about five months after Jack had deployed. After this he had decided to go to the Ranger school, since he'd met some Rangers while he had been deployed and had come to admire them. He'd managed to complete the course, and was even able to become a Ranger by joining the 75th Ranger Regiment, he'd then spent several years in the Rangers, in relative peace. His platoon had been assigned to Europe to assist a CIA Special Activities Division (SAD) group, with the Rangers receiving training better suited to the job, which included methods to remain undetected and silent while on the offensive. The American group was there as a response to growing violence in the area, some of which had made it "across the pond", over the controversial metropolis "Kenificus Vector", which had been accused of various human right's violations, though it was mainly speculation at that point in time. But it was still enough to spark violence around the world.
The American unit had been there, with forces from the UK, for several years before they had actually gone into Kenificus Vector, they had been in the surrounding area up till that point, mainly gathering as much intel as they could but also so that they didn't seem to appear out of nowhere. After they had all moved in, not all at once of course, a few, including Jack, had gotten jobs to help blend in. The plan was for them to remain in place for several years, which was going exactly as it was supposed to. During this time Jack had also met and fallen in love with a young woman, Monica York, that lived in Kenificus Vector. She'd been impressed with how he'd been in the military already, though he'd told her that he was no longer in the military. Jack was allowed to date her, as long as it didn't prevent him from completing his job, so he'd been careful about not letting her know what he was actually up to.
But things hadn't had any major issues, they'd needed to defend themselves a few times but that was about it, the unit was basically there with the Kenificus Vector government's approval since they were there only due to the violence, and not investigating Kenificus Vector itself. However, the time soon came when the unit's mission was over and they were to leave Kenificus Vector, ending an eight year long mission. They'd gotten some intel on who had been responsible for the attacks in their own regions, and had of course dealt with the threat, which is what caused the mission to end. They'd been sent to one of the US bases in the area for a time, though since he'd been in the Army a long enough time, Jack, as well as a few of his fellow soldiers, had retired from the military to live in Kenificus Vector. Jack had of course done this for Monica, who he was now living with, and they'd gotten engaged shortly after his departure from the military.
They'd gotten married soon after that, and Jack had joined toe Beowulves, he had been assigned in a similar role as he had while working with the CIA, though this one was more combat based. Things had been going very well for the young couple, though they hadn't decided if they wanted to have any children yet. Jack made a point to tell his wife about why he'd actually been there, she wasn't to happy that he'd lied to her before, but she could understand why he did so it hadn't caused issues between them. Jack also made sure to teach his wife how to defend herself, not wanting her to need him around to protect her since he wouldn't always be there or he could be wounded or killed himself. So they lived fairly normal lives for the next few years, going to visit Jack's parents once a year so they could see their daughter in law.
However, during the surge in violence in Kenificus Vector in 2084, when they were just heading into their home some Orochi members attacked them, one of them had sliced Jack's face, from his forehead down to about the tip of his nose, which also destroyed his left eye, he'd managed to draw his sidearm and shoot two of them, incapacitating one with the JHP rounds when they had hit the other man's heart and lungs. But the second assailant was wearing a ballistic vest and had managed to take two shots on his vest before clubbing Jack across the head, knocking him out. When he'd woken up, in the hospital, he'd been told that the Orochi members had run off when they the police on their way, but not before they'd beaten both he and his wife rather throughly. He was surprised to learn that Monica was in a coma, they'd both been hit on the head several times, but she had received a much worse beating.
He'd been able to leave the hospital almost a month after the attack, but he wasn't allowed back onto active duty until his wounds had healed and he'd adjusted to the cybernetic eye that had been installed to replace the one he had lost. Monica on the other hand had woken up, though with severe brain damage and she'd been released from the hospital at her parent's request, against the doctor's recommendation and without informing Jack, she'd died a day later as a result of her wounds because of this. This left Jack basically destroyed emotionally, he'd thought about killing himself a few times. But a week after she'd died, after her funeral, some friends of his in the Beowulves told him that they'd gotten posters up for the guys that had attacked them, from the descriptions he'd given on them, so it was just a matter of time until they got them. This reminded Jack that he could get revenge and as a result he'd gone back to work shortly after this, though his ratio of shooting targets had gone up, while his arrests went down somewhat. He hated the Orochi and what they stood for, mainly because of this incident.
But after half a year they still hadn't found the guys, which made Jack wonder if they'd ever find them like this. So he decided to take matters more into his own hands, he started by resigning from the Beowulves, citing stress from losing his wife as the reason for leaving. He'd then gotten info on the Orochi before he'd joined them, claiming that he'd seen enough of the brutal tactics of the Beowulves and wanted a chance to change things. He'd been accepted in, but for a while had been mistrusted because of his background. In reality he is seeking the men responsible for killing Monica, as such he tries to avoid harming Beowulves when he does need to fight them, and he's also allowed his hair to grow out longer to help prevent anyone from recognizing him along with wearing a mask when he's doing a mission for the Orochi.
He's made some changes to his equipment since then, specifically he wears a head band with a metal plate on it to prevent attacks like the one that cost him his eye. He also carries a pistol that fires rounds that can penetrate soft armor, though this lowers wounding ability he doesn't have an issue with this since he doesn't want to kill Beowulves that he might need to shoot. Plus since roughly 80% of pistol gunshots were survivable anyway he figured that the advantage of lower recoil, would give him better accuracy and the lower penetration through flesh would also allow them a better chance to survive. So far though he hasn't needed to use it against a Beowulf, but has been pleased with the results it had on gang members that he'd killed. He has recently taken up work as a mercenary as well. Other:
Being from New York, his accent clearly tells anyone that he's not from the area, though if needed he can change his voice to mask it from his time with the CIA.
