"Guuuuuuuuhhhh..."
That sound.
"Suzu, that is the second set of three rings that the doorbell has produced."
That accursed sound.
"GUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHH...
"According to current logs pertaining to human ettiquette, you are currently being very rude and our guest is most likely within the beginning stages of frustration."
That god-awful sound, that wouldn't leave her alone.
"Oh for fuck's sake... of all the-the times..." She swore, a cough interrupting her speech. She snorted loudly as the snot in her nose turned her air passages into some sort of slimy instrument.
"Shall I greet them instead? I have completed seventy-two percent of my research logs concerning greetings and initial contact, I believe this will be sufficient in this particular situation." A kind voice offered. Yet for all it's kind intentions, the voice seemed just slightly... hollow. Metallic. Not like it was faking it's emotions, but more like deep down it simply lacked them completely and all it could manage was this pale imitation.
"Belay that. Reference incident of June twentieth, of one year ago. We learned that no matter what you should learn it the full way through. Besides, I can still scream a bit. I'll ask them why they had the fucking balls to come at a time like this..." Suzu ordered as curtly as she could in her nasally tone.
"Acknowledged. I will still remain in standby mode if needed, awaiting the current passcode."
"Now then... who the fuck is enough of a dickhead to bother with me at this time..." She hissed. It was currently the middle of the afternoon of a very nice and sunny day, however you couldn't tell from Suzu's point of view. All the windows in the house were shut and the blinds all drawn. Only a small inkling of sunlight here and there penetrated into the suburban home. Yet it wasn't totally devoid of light, only of the natural kind. Suzu was sprawled over her king-sized bed, wrapped in a cute and cozy blanket that was pink with bunny patterns all over the thing with a hand sleepily shoved into her mouth that she pulled out once she had woken up a slight bit. The room's lights were off save the glow of two things on either side, that of a wide-screen TV that she had been channel-surfing through previously, and those of a plethora of computer screens on the other side.
Grunting as anyone rudely awoken would, she rolled and wormed her way out of bed sprinkling the ordeal with more snotty snorts and wet coughs until she finally pulled her legs over the side and slipped her feet into two little rabbit slippers made just for her. She still held the massive blanket she had around her like some regal cloak that shielded her, with it even covering her head like a hood. The blanket also covered her matching pink pajamas, soft as silk and made to keep her warm. Cringing as the doorbell rang once again, she swore under her breath and shuffled herself over to the door, nudging it open and slinking downstairs while shouting a hoarse "I'm coming, I'm coming!... Impatient little prick..." as she did. However rather than go straight to the door she instead headed to the living room where there were two couches arranged that formed a perfect right angle across from another wide-screen television and headed straight into the kitchen while coughing and snorting some more. In there, she quickly poured herself a glass of milk and mixed it with some easy-to-make hot chocolate mix and stuck it in the microwave angrily to heat it. Of course the doorbell rang yet twice more prompting Suzu to roar "SHUT YOUR FUCKING PIEHOLE AND GIVE ME FIVE MINUTES YOU LIMEY BASTARD!!!" straight through the house so loudly the neighbors could hear. This also prompted a coughing fit that lasted for a good 20 seconds due to the strain on her parched throat. Finally the hot chocolate was done and Suzu snorted once before picking it up and tucking it into her fuzzy blanket shell which she hauled with her as she waddled all the way back through the living room and finally reached the front door. She clumsily began to undo the multitude of locks on it, interjecting the process with sips of hot chocolate and swearing. After the eternity that had seemed to pass after she had finally woken up, Suzu opened the door and let it swing open fully, squinting at the bright light of the day and clutching her blankety robe around her tighter in presence of the outside air.
If you hadn't noticed by now, Suzu had possibly the worst looking flu on the face of the earth.
Her amber little eyes were demonically flushed red, her nose was brighter than Rudolph's but furiously vented snot that she would hold a hand up to and wipe away constantly. She coughed loudly and actually got some phlegm on the person standing at the door, muttering an apology before taking another sip of hot chocolate. Yet at the same time she looked so adorably pale and sad it almost made you want to take care of her. Her short height, cute clothing and face (despite the snot) and overall helplessness only seemed to compound the fact. She didn't exactly care who was at the door right now.
A neighbor saying hello?
Her new squad member picking her up for work?
A salesman who needed to be desperately kicked in the balls?
An Orochi assassin sent to kill her, even though she was pretty much unknown around the city beyond being "that creepy, sick chick with the coffin"?
To hell with it all. She looked up at her new guest, sipped her hot chocolate and asked with the nuance of a trainwreck
"Who the fuck're you, what the hell do you think you're doing here, when did you think that waking me up at this time was a good idea, where did you get the brilliant idea to come here, why are you such a prick, and how are you going to make me NOT get a restraining order to keep you from coming here again?"
All five W's covered, and even the H.

To say Hagane Asagami was annoyed with his boss would be a bit polite. Why the hell had he gotten roped into playing delivery boy for K-Tech? Sure his parents lived two streets down from this Suzume he was supposed to be delivering these parts too, but that didn't mean they had to make him bring the parts. Why the hell had he agreed to this again? Oh yeah... His boss had rationalized the entire thing with the fact that what he was delivering wasn't exactly standard tech and as such needed at least a small degree of clearance to transport. The girl he was delivering too must be one heck of an inventor if she was allowed stuff with even minor classification out of the lab and work on it directly at home. Still, no use crying over spilled milk. Holding back a sigh, the Clairvoyant Candeoan kept an eye out all around him using his power as he walked up to the door. As he did so, his clairvoyance picked up various things around him, unfortunately he didn't pick up any humanoid figures. As such he began ringing the doorbell. After a long period in which there was no answer he began to get a bit frustrated and rang the doorbell several more times. It wasn't until many rings later, that his clairvoyance finally picked up a figure and... Oh crap this wouldn't be good. The map his power was giving him told him that the person walking up wasn't exactly happy and appeared to have been sleeping if her appearance was any clue. Realizing he was screwed he braced himself as the girl flung open the door and ranted at him.
Hagane was taken aback just a bit by the ranting welcome that the girl in front of him went into. Still, being fairly laid back and realizing he was at least partially at fault for being annoyed with his boss, he just gave a weak grin and did his best to answer her questions. "Uh... Sorry about this. I'm Hagane Asagami a scientist from R&D. I was sent here to deliver these K-Tech parts to you as ordered by my boss. That same boss specifically told me that I was to take this to you ASAP and make sure you received it so sorry about waking you up. Um... I didn't mean to be a prick, but my parents live a couple streets down so I got roped into playing delivery boy by my boss since some of this tech isn't exactly standard. And as for the restraining order, that might be a bit tough considering it looks like my boss is planning on using me for these deliveries pretty often, so once again... Sorry."
He scratched his head embarrassed as he said this, the box of parts held up by his other hand against his waist. Looks like he'd put her in a pretty foul mood and though he didn't know much about girls he knew that what he'd done was pretty high up on the "OH SHIT DON'T BE AN IDIOT" list when it came to them. Waking up a girl by using some mildly annoying method... Yep he was screwed.

She raised an eyebrow. An awkward minute of silence played out between the two only broken by coughing, snorting, and loud sips of hot chocolate while Suzu looked over Hagane. Despite being much shorter and sick, it seemed more like she was the one in control of the conversation at the moment. It probably didn't help his slight nervousness that the girl's amber eyes were basically piercing straight into him as if to find all his dirty little secrets.
Then she saw the box.
"Mm, box do want." She chirped suddenly, finishing her hot chocolate with one last swig. She suddenly waddled forward and rudely ripped the box away from him, uncaring if the parts inside were sensitive at all. Turning away she waddled back past the door frame and into her house where she sat down and ignored Hagane for a small bit while she fussed with her box. With her blanket still over her head she looked a bit like a pink Cousin It while she grumbled and fussed with the box, shaking it a few times like the Christmas present to figure out what was inside. A moment later, Suzu had success as she used her sharp little nails to tear open the box and stared inside it, mussing over the contents.
Finally, she turned her head back to Hagane and said bemusedly "Thanks for bringing my new graphics card... I guess..." then closed the box and picked herself up off the floor. "Since you're with R&D I'll assume you're familiar with a computer. Come in and shut the door, I'm too sick to do this myself." Suzu grunted, waddling off to the living room.
Hopefully Hagane wouldn't notice that Suzu was abusing her ability to get next-generation computer hardware to just set up a gaming PC.
Instead he would likely notice the strange eeriness of Suzu's house. It seemed normal enough, with family pictures on the walls, and there was lively noise coming from the TV in the living room and the one in Suzu's room upstairs. However it was also somehow... quietly depressing. The life was gone. This place was much too big for Suzu, and though everything was well taken care of it wasn't like it was cleaned as a house should be. It was more like it was preserved, embalmed, as if to keep everything from decaying.
Her voice called from the kitchen past the living room "Do you want something to eat first? All I've got is pizza from last night and I'm not cooking!" amongst the shuffling as she searched through the fridge and brought out a box of some rather high-class veggie pizza from that new organic Italian place in Einkaufszentrum. She placed her box and empty mug on the kitchen counter (which seemed too high for her as it reached her neck) before turning on the oven and shoving the box of pizza inside. Like the patient child she was, Suzu sat down cross-legged in front of the oven and watched the pizza to make sure it didn't burn, all the while clutching her blanket around herself to make sure she didn't get cold from sitting on the floor.
"So what's your story? You sound like the type who's easily pussy whipped by their boss and either has a totally normal life or some dark secret they keep. Probably a fetish. Like tentacle porn. Or secretly wanting to screw your little sister or something." She mused, unforgiving and blunt as always.

As Suzume's eyes bore into him, Hagane looked back into them without really flinching. It was easy to shift his attention to his clairvoyance and put less emphasis on his sight. Still, he was a bit relieved when her gaze shifted to the box he held.
Hagane fought the urge to sweatdrop at that intelligent statement as Suzume ripped the package from his grip and promptly tore the package open with her hands and nails.
Idly wondering what she was using a next-gen graphics card for, Hagane decided not to pry and simply accepted her invitation to come in. “Um alright.” he replied as he came in and closed the door behind him. He followed her to the living room, and as he did so idly began noting what his power told him about the house. He’d had the ability so long, and it was so natural to use it that at this point Hagane simply thought of it as another sense just as natural as sight or hearing. Still, he couldn’t fully shift his attention away from what the 5 normal senses people had was telling him. The place was kinda disconcerting. There was a firm mood of depression in the air, and simply focusing on his 6th sense didn’t really change that. However, it just seemed like it wasn’t quite right for this house to belong to an 18-year old girl.
The offer surprised him to be honest. Seeing how she was in such a foul mood not five minutes ago he didn’t think she’d offer. “No thanks. I’m visiting my folks after this and I’m supposed to have dinner with them and my sister. Thanks for the offer though.” he replied honestly. It looks like this girl wasn’t quite as bad as he’d first thought. Then again waking someone up might put them in a bad mood even if they were a saint.
Hearing such a blunt question from this girl about almost 1 ½ feet shorter than him made him raise an eyebrow. Guess she didn’t like to beat around the bush. Still, grinning a bit Hagane replied, “Sorry to disappoint you, but the only reason my boss can get me to play errand boy is because I’m still at the bottom of the pecking order and you wolves in the 13th unit get special priority for now since they’re trying to rebuild them. I should have moved up the ladder by now, but I can’t get my first project to work out right.” he sighs a bit as he says this last part. His grin turning embarrassed, he continued, “Turns out if you want to get past the bottom rung of the unofficial inventor pecking order at R&D you’ve got to make at least one useful piece of K-Tech. This wouldn’t be so bad for me if it wasn’t for the fact that they put up an additional rule for Candeoans like me. We have to use our own gene and power for the first invention. Some political bull about how if a Candeoan can't change the power he bests understands into something useful how can they make ways to use other powers. Never mind the fact that my power is a bit tricky and doesn't really work well for normal humans.” Shrugging helplessly he laughed a bit as he thought about his inability to turn his clairvoyance ability into a functional piece of Keneficus Technology.

She listened...ish. When Hagane had begun to talk Suzu had decided her pizza was now pretty much ready (the cheese was bubbling) causing her to begin ignoring him as she reached over to turn off the oven.
“Sorry to disappoint you, but the only reason my boss can get me to play errand boy is because I’m still at the bottom of the pecking order and you wolves in the 13th unit get special priority for now since they’re trying to rebuild them. I should have moved up the ladder by now, but I can’t get my first project to work out right.”
"Ah huh." she replied bluntly, taking it in but not caring at the moment. She reached into a drawer and pulled out some large pink oven mitts which she then put on and used to pull her pizza out of the oven.
“Turns out if you want to get past the bottom rung of the unofficial inventor pecking order at R&D you’ve got to make at least one useful piece of K-Tech. This wouldn’t be so bad for me if it wasn’t for the fact that they put up an additional rule for Candeoans like me. We have to use our own gene and power for the first invention. Some political bull about how if a Candeoan can't change the power he bests understands into something useful how can they make ways to use other powers. Never mind the fact that my power is a bit tricky and doesn't really work well for normal humans.”
"Mmhmm. Great." was her reply as she used a foot to nudge the oven closed and then set her pizza on the table. She grunted while climbing up onto a stool that was just over half her height and settled herself nicely upon the stool, dragging her box of pizza towards herself. Immediately she took a hot slice and shoved it into her small mouth, but like a chipmunk she would quickly chew away at it causing it to disappear within seconds as if it had gone into a wood chipper. "There's... a reason you're where you are.... you know... it's not because... of the politics..." She mumbled inbetween slices of pizza. About a third of it was left now.
She took a large gulp, forcing a particularly large bite down her throat. With a sigh of relief as it passed, she reached for a glass of water on the table and drank it down, sighing loudly once she was done. Taking another slice, she turned her head towards Hagane and chipped away at her pizza while saying the meanest little thing.
"The only reason you're still doing menial bullshit... is cause you're a whiny little bitch."
She really was much too blunt at times.
"Needing to make K-tech to advance... that's a load of bull. She retorted with a mouth full of pizza.
"Never had to do shit like that... did it anyway but... was mostly for shits and giggles... and I was already a project leader... I got there just through hacking..." Suzu explained, taking another large swig of water to wash down her pizza.
"Even made my own K-tech... officials don't give a shit... you're just uppity like most.... Candles are... all on about your rights and shit... getting oppressed by the man... is all bullshit... just be useful.... can't do that... well then go to a farm..."
She was finally done her pizza completely, and it was apparent that it wouldn't have mattered if Hagane had taken her offer anyway. With the sheer speed she had eaten it, he wouldn't have had time to savor a single slice. The small girl patted her hands on her lap to dust off the crust dust and did a short hop onto the floor where she adjusted her blanket cape once before picking up her box with her graphics card in it and beginning to waddle off to the living room. She was half way through it when she turned her head back to Hagane and gave him the most uncaring stare upon the face of the earth as she said with no regret "It's the problem with all of them... they all feel like they're fucking entitled to fucking everything. Oh yeah you can throw fire, you're such hot shit. Candles are should really just suck it up and realize that at least they're inherently more useful than normals at the end. I mean the only people in Candle farms are just useless idiots who've got no real skills the city can use.". She turned away and began to make her way to the stairs, beckoning with a signal for Hagane to follow her.
"You wanna advance your position? Fine. You wanna stay out of a farm? Fine. Just don't be a fucking waste of my goddamned time."

"Certainly don't hesitate to speak your mind do you Klinger-san" Hagane replied dryly to her comments. Maybe she had a point about him thinking a bit too much on equality, but he certainly didn't think she was right about condemning all those stuck at the candle farms. Still, he didn't know her past. He didn't know what happened to her, and he shouldn't judge her based on words alone. Didn't mean he had to like her, but for now he'd just grit and bear things. "Don't much like the idea of going to a farm though so I think I'll just grit and bear things even if you think I'm useless. Since you don't want me to waste your time, what is it you want me to do?" he finished, his tone dry and a wry smile on his face. He asked her as he followed her up the stairs. As he ascended though, his eyebrows shot up as his clairvoyance picked up a strange... coffin? And was with all that stuff inside of it... Well whatever, if she wanted him to look at it she'd ask him to. Otherwise for now he'd best just keep quiet and kept mapping out the area as he followed her upstairs.

"Certainly don't hesitate to speak your mind do you Klinger-san"
They were now at the top of the stairs. From here was a straight hall forward whose uniform gray walls were only broken by the occasional presence of a door. Four doors, two on the left and one on the right, with the last door at the very end of the hallway. They were open save the last one and the contents of the rooms could be seen easily. The one on the left nearest to Hagane was the bathroom, a good looking one that was rather large. A jacuzzi style hot-tub sat square in the middle with the toilet off to the right and a closed off shower for when Suzu needed to quickly get to work beside it. To the left was the vanity mirror and the sink, with an adorable little set of steps leading up to it so Suzu would actually be able to see all of her face inside the mirror despite her height. "Why bother. Being politically correct is for someone who gives a shit about what people think of them." She answered Hagane as they encountered the second room on the right.
"Don't much like the idea of going to a farm though so I think I'll just grit and bear things even if you think I'm useless. Since you don't want me to waste your time, what is it you want me to do?"
It was Suzu's room. It was dirty with clothes and blankets strewn everywhere and the blinds were closed with the only lights coming from a gaming PC on one side where Suzu was actually playing an MMORPG but automatically selling stuff. On the other was a TV currently playing the news, with an article currently showing about a recent Government facility being raided by a terrorist. However the weirdest part of the room was the massive Coffin sitting next to the computer with the insignia of the 13th Unit on it. "You're gonna work on Prinny for me. Since I'm too sick to do it myself, and you're here asking for brownie points basically I'll put in a good word with your boss if you do this." She explained, walking over to the Coffin which was currently standing upright. She knocked on the door of it twice and quickly ordered "Come on. Your new gear is here let's test it. before walking out of the room and towards the end of the hall.
In a way that could only be described as extremely creepy, the coffin seemed to silently answer her call and it's bottom suddenly began floating just an inch or two off the ground. It reoriented itself by falling forwards, stopping just short of touching the floor and in it's flat state floated silently behind Suzu with the loyalty of a trained dog. Suzu began to walk towards the room at the end of the hall, ignoring the last one on the left almost purposefully. Unlike the other rooms whose doors were left open completely, this one's door was left just slightly ajar as if Suzu had gone in but forgotten to close it on her way out. A slight peer in produced a rather odd image. It was another bedroom. However this one was completely clean and much smaller than Suzu's. The bed and room was also completely different, with everything colored pink and cutesy. There was even a small plush toy visible with what looked like a whole pile behind it.
However she ignored it completely, and it was much too obvious she was ignoring it. Suzu was never good at hiding her emotions outside of a game. She instead reached for the last door and pushed it open, waddling inside with that giant Coffin following her. When Hagane would walk in he would see what was essentially a miniature laboratory and mecha garage that was on par with, if not greater, than the one at any facility. Wires and ports covered up the walls and there seemed to be computer screens streaming data everywhere. It was a truly massive room as well, a 3rd of an acre in total area. In the very center of the room was something akin to a tree made completely of metal and wires with a large hollow exactly the Coffin's size in the trunk. Suzu scooted to the side and allowed her Coffin to pass her by, watching as it suddenly floated back up to a standing position and calmly docked itself into the main tree.
"Begin maintenance procedures. Code: Princess, all safeties on, all assists on, allow guest privileges and record current user: Male, mid-twenties, obtain relevant information and visual data for later reference."
Her orders were precise and soft-spoken, but the room seemed to hear her despite the low volume. Immediately, the room's previous dull humm turned into a lively whirr, with beeps and lights beginning to fill it. The main tree which extended into the ceiling suddenly extended "branches", mechanical arms and appendages both big and small, moving in various ways as a diagnostic test before a few of those branches strayed towards Hagane. Suzu left him near the center of the room and strayed towards one of the desks in the room where a few screens and wires would converge and sat down in an available chair. "Prinny, open up for him." She ordered off-hand, adjusting her blanket around herself. In acknowledgement, the Coffin beeped once and with a slow hiss it's door slid away to reveal it's contents.
A girl.
Or rather, something like a girl. That face was much too perfect and the blue doll joints save the one at her white arm gave her away. She lay like a proper corpse, arms crossed and legs straight in her metallic beauty, somehow looking so vibrant and yet so dead at the same time. The branches began to gather at her, scanning her, prodding her, connecting to ports on her body Hagane couldn't see. Then he was confronted with something like a camera on a prehensile wire, a massive metal eyeball that glowed with a blue light as it recorded him with utmost attention.
"Name. Height. Weight. Age. Date of birth. Next of kin. Current Physical health complications. Technological experience." A robotic female voice asked him.
Suzu turned to her table and picked up what seemed like a visor. It went straight over her eyes and was connected to the multitude of computers at the desk via two wires at both sides. Though blind as a bat when wearing them, they were meant to relay information to her on the inside and take up her entire sight range so she would not be distracted.
"Give the little girl what she wants." She told him, edging herself towards a keyboard she found through memory of it's location. With a skill that would put Hagane and his coworkers to shame she began to type away seemingly random commands and code and noted to him "And strip down completely. You're going to be integrating that new graphics card straight into Prinny's chassis, and I'm not taking a single risk with those sensitive components. No underwear, no shirt, nothing. When you're ready, tell me and I'll open up her chest, then lift you into range."
A series of branches made their way to Hagane, clipping their small claws almost enticingly. They were there to receive his clothing.

Even though it doesn't want to work... I have decided to kick my muse's ass into gear and force it to write this post even though it's already dryer than the Sahara. WORK MUSE WORK!!!)
Hagane watched with undisguised interest as he saw the coffin open up and showed him what was inside. His clairvoyance had given him the shape of everything, but seeing it with his own eyes was something else. A real android, or at least what seemed to be an android if all the various components his clairvoyance was picking up was any indication. He'd never seen such a complicated piece of K-Tech before in his life. Hearing the android girl ask him for various information he was somewhat surprised, however it was Suzu's statement which most alarmed him.
"Huh!?" he said loudly initially in surprise. After thinking things over a few seconds though he facepalmed and let out a sigh. "Agh! Dammit, you're right... Something as complicated as her would probably have some sensitive components... Without a clean suit I do need to strip down..." Sighing a bit again, he took off his jacket and handed it to one of the waiting arms, and also began to work on stripping off his other clothes.
As he did this however, he remembered that the android girl had asked him for personal information. "Oh yeah, you need my info don't you? Alright, Name: Hagane Asagami, Height: 5'10", Weight: 154 lbs, Age: 23, Date of Birth: May 13, 2081, Next of kin: Fujino Asagami, No current physical health complications, Technological Experience: Finished graduating from Keneficus Academy with a Bachelor's degree in theoretical Keneficus Technology Application and have worked for 3 months in Keneficus Technology's K-Tech invention branch. Current projects include assisting with an electromagnet K-Tech device, and my own personal project to harness and create a viable Keneficus Technology using my own Candeoan gene."
Tossing his stripped clothes to the various claws having finished stripping while giving his information, Hagane then thought back to all the questions. Now that he stopped to think about it, Next of kin was a bit of a disconcerting question to ask...
