Alexander, for a guy, is slightly on the short side, only standing at about five foot six. He's about as light as you'd expect at that height and he's got a head of light gray hair kept short, somewhat messy thanks to a slightly natural curl to it. He styles it so it sweeps more to the right, parting above his left eye. Strangely enough, on the left side of his head he almost always has his hair tied up in a little lock with a small green bow on it. When asked why he has it that way, he simply replies that it’s ‘revenge from an uncomfortably close woman’. Alexandra's hair style is very similar to Alexander's, as well as her height and weight, the only difference being that her hair is straighter than his, and is somewhat longer, reaching to her shoulders. Oh, and she always undoes the bow. Both of them also have blue eyes.
The two also share some common ground in terms of their build. Overall, they're slightly slim with slender limbs. Alexander has a bit more bulk to his body, though not much, and he isn't quite as thin in certain areas as Alexandra. In terms of the latter, aside from the obvious difference of having the female necessities, is more slim around the waist than Alexander and has slightly longer legs than him, making her torso slightly shorter. Overall, physically, the two aren't that different, which makes changing between the two easier.
Powers
Type of Power: Gender-Manipulation (oriented on self) Manifestation: A limited form of cellular manipulation, Alexander's power is limited to simply being able to swap his own gender via altering his chromosomes and using his energy to accelerate the change. Unlike many powers, Alexander doesn't have to focus on using this power to activate it. In fact, it has its own activation time. Whenever Alexander falls asleep, his body will begin the change automatically and he is unable to awaken until the change is complete. At his current age and size, the change only takes roughly ten minutes thanks to maintaining such physical similarity. However, this activates even when he dozes off for only a moment, so he has to be well-rested in order to avoid accidentally triggering it when he didn't want to. Source: Natural-Born Power inherited from his Mother's own cellular manipulation and his father's false projection power.
Type of Power: Cellular Augmentation Manifestation: A second form of cellular manipulation gained through surgically implanted genes, this one granted him the power to accelerate the energy production in his cells as well as make the bonds formed from cells stronger. To put it simply, he can increase how much energy his cells make exponentially as well as make himself tougher. In terms of the acceleration, he can augment it in incraments of 2x, 3x, and so on, all the way up to 15x if he puts all his energy into it. This allows him to move quicker without breaks since he won't need to replenish his energy. He also increases his force output when he moves while accelerated, allowing him access to feats such as running on walls and such. The faster his cells produce energy, the quicker and longer he is able to move, but it also means he is more likely to tear himself apart due to his cells not being able to handle the stress.
This is where his second part comes in. Taking some of his energy, he can use it to strengthen the bonds between cells, strengthening his tissues, organs, organ systems, or his whole body depending on what he wants. The primary use of this is to keep himself from breaking when he moves quicker, but it came with a second use. Augmenting the bonds in his cells within a concentrated area enough will result in it becoming a shield of sorts, capable of taking numerous hits before faulting. However, it is impossible for him to both move his body at the maximum possible speed and strengthen himself to the point of being a shield, as each one requires all of the energy he can create. He's also incapable of strengthening his entire body to the point of being a human shield right now, only able to strengthen both of his arms and legs at maximum (or any other chunks of his body with equal surface area). It also makes it impossible to speed himself up and runs the risk of temporarily incapacitating himself, as strengthening the bonds also reduces their flexibility. The most he can strengthen them by is 5x without losing any movement range.
The biggest issue is that he has to carefully balance how much energy he puts into each skill so he can fight effectively. The more energy he puts into his speed, the more he has to augment himself so he doesn't fall apart. He can risk putting all his energy into one or the other, but it makes him too unbalanced and he puts himself at risk to do so. Personal
Personality: Both Alexander and Alexandra share a single, general personality. Calm, relaxed, and laid-back, they don't really assert themselves. They tend to sit back and watch from the sidelines when conflict takes place, as they don't like to have to choose a side. It is due to an indecisive nature and not wanting to show bias towards anyone. They prefer to be on even terms with everybody so that when the time comes that they must choose a side, they will have equal opportunities on every side. He has an oddly equal life, having equal opportunities with every possible type of person to love and every possible path in life. He tries to balance things out as much as possible so he can do whatever, and so far it's working.
Because of their laid-back nature, they tend to take school casually and only do below-average, leading some to think they're not that smart. In reality, though, the two are actually very intelligent. They simply choose not to put their brain to full use when focusing on school work or a job, which is why Alexander has a relatively simple job and Alexandra has an easy one. They think that wasting brain power on those menial tasks is pointless, so they save it for when they'd actually need it. Still, when a task calls for it, they can summon this knowledge and easily complete it, all the while lounging about and acting like their usual self.
Aside from the hidden brain power, the two actually have a very strong, stable mental condition. This comes from having to sort out two separate identities and make sure they stay in their designated places. Their memories are linked together, so they know what happened to the other, and they can easily sort through two mind's worth of information like it was nothing. They're also capable of shrugging off things that would normally put others beyond the edge. It is uncertain if driving them insane or even damaging his mental condition is possible due to how calm he is even under the most sanity-threatening of situations.
Despite their similarities, the two do have some of their own differences. Alexander actually emphasizes hs laid-back nature, having lazy gestures and relaxed in just about everything he does. The only time he stops being lax about it is when he fights, but he tries to avoid doing so and talking his way out of fights. Alexandra, meanwhile, is a bit more energetic about things than Alexander, though she isn't hyper-active about things. She is also a bit more eager to fight than Alexander is, preparing her weapon as the enemy threatens her. In a fight, both are skilled, but Alexander tends to try and end things quickly while Alexandra enjoys herself.
History: The average home, the average family, the aveage child, or at least he looked that way for a while after he was born. Of course, after he woke up....and then fell asleep again.....they found their child but wondered if it was actually theirs. They hung onto the 'mystery' daughter and when it fell asleep again, they had their son back. Next time the child slept, they had a daughter again, and they watched this a few more times. Once they were certain of what they had for a child, they decided to try and hide it from people. Candeoans were already having trouble being accepted in the modern times, one that changes genders constantly would become a complete social outcast.
Of course, this made his life rather difficult to maintain normality within and he had to be careful about every single thing he did. He wasn't permitted to ever sleep in public, he is only allowed to sleep at home, and he could never spend the night at a person's house nor have anyone spend the night at his. Albeit unintentionally, this ended up making him a social outcast since at first, people tried to set up just those kinds of things and he had to say no to them every single time. He was only allowed to see friends for the day.
One time, though, his parents ended up making a mistake. They were rushing and having to prepare for a big event at work and in the midst of this, Alexander asked if he could go to a friend's and stay until tomorrow. His parents only caught the first part of the question and said yes, continuing to dart around in their rush. That friend was someone new he had met at school, named Hino. Alexander knew even though his parents had said yes, he had to try and hide his nature. He attempted to stay up all night and....fell short by a lot. He passed out before Hino was asleep and thus, someone outside of the hospital and his home knew of his condition.
The Atalante family was fortunate that Hino was nice and kept the whole thing a secret. Of course, for the few days to follow, things were hell back at home. Both parents were blaming each other and Alexander for letting this happen and causing someone to find out. Alexander just sat there in the center of these arguements, not voicing any of his thoughts. He had no place to do so. He didn't want either parent to be more mad at him than the other, so he kept it balanced and let them be equally mad at him.
When it came to school, they had to take extra cautious measures. Beforehand, every morning he was forced to wake up ten minutes earlier than normal, so he would wake up as Alexandra, then he was put to sleep with medicine right away so he could immediately begin the process of changing back. Then he'd go through his usual routine of getting ready. It wasn't exactly friendly to him and it wasn't fun for his parents either. However, they didn't want their son to suffer, even if he hated them for it.
The fact that he was a Candeoan was actually hidden from the public, along with the fact that his father was one. After all, if they knew his father was one as well, then they would only assume that Alex was one as well. His mother was willing to endure the hatred of the anti-candeoan chunk of the population, since it was for the good of her son.
During the Jackal incidents, Alexander actually met Jackal as one of his attacks took place not too far from the video store he worked at. It was a brief encounter, and neither of them were actually injured in it. However, it was something that would definitely have an impact on Alex’s view on things. It is an incident that nobody knows took place except for them, as Alex never speaks of it.
These days he continues his work at both jobs, though he’s not as content being on the sidelines watching as before. In fact, he’s begun to take action.
Other: Weapon of choice: Combat Knife.
